Notice of Harrisonburg Democratic Caucus
The Harrisonburg Democratic Committee will hold an assembled caucus at 7 P.M. Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Harrisonburg City Council Chambers, 409 South Main Street, Harrisonburg, to nominate up to three candidates for the 2012 Harrisonburg City Council election. The Caucus is open to all Democrats registered to vote in the City of Harrisonburg. The door to the caucus will open at 6:30 P.M Each caucus participant must, before voting, sign a standardized declaration form that he or she is a Democrat, does not intend to support any candidate who is opposed to a Democratic nominee in the ensuing election, is not a member of any other political party, is a registered voter in the city, and will not take part in the nominating process of any other party in 2012. At 7 P.M the door to the caucus will be closed and no person may complete a form and participate in the caucus after that time, with the exception of those persons in line at 7 P.M. There is no charge for attending the caucus. Congressional candidates of both major parties will discuss and debate the root problems confronting American society.
The event is co-sponsored by Occupy Harrisonburg and the Harrisonburg/Rockingham County Liberty Alliance. Republican challenger, Karen Kwiatkowski, and Democratic nominee, Andy Schmookler have agreed to participate. The incumbent, Bob Goodlatte, was also invited, but declined. Day Of Action
On Saturday, March 3, OFA-Virginia is having a statewide Day of Action, and we want Virginia to know how energized Harrisonburg really is! We hope you can join us to register as many voters as possible! We will meet at Mr J's in Harmony Square Shopping Center (1741 E. Virginia Avenue), at 11 am, and go out into the community from there. https://my.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/voterregistrationdrive/gpyyqb See you there! Voter Registration Drives
Saturdays, 11 am, Greenberry's (400 S. High Street) If you are interested in knocking on doors, tabling in a high traffic public location, or doing data entry, you will be a huge help in making voter registration drives successful. At the 2012 Jefferson Jackson Day Dinner, Bill Ney of Harrisonburg won the Grassroots Award from the Sixth District for his service to the Democratic Party. In his acceptance, he said he was just one little man, because it's only the people who aren't who can think they are. (Award is being presented by 6D chair Linda Wyatt.)
