2018 Monthly Meetings
We meet 7-8:30pm on the second Mondays of each month. Meetings are open to public and any Democratic committee members may vote.
April 9, May 14, June 11, etc.
Location: Until further notice, meeting will be in the Community Room in the basement of Harrisonburg City Hall. To access, enter the new City Hall from the door at ground level in the wall facing the Farmers' Market Pavilion.

Time to get serious about the 2018 midterm elections, ya'll.
New to politics? No experience? Great! We need YOU!
We will offer clear steps and guidance for what it takes to organize at the precinct level. We will incorporate both standard practices as well as unique strategies learned from experience on the ground.

Meet your your 6th District Democratic Congressional Candidates and your local Democratic City Council and School Board candidates and enjoy all-you-can-eat Dem Ribs! This is a fundraiser for the Harrisonburg Democratic Committee and all proceeds will go towards establishing a permanent office dedicated to electing Democrats.

FAQ About High School Overcrowding Solutions
In our June Democratic committee meeting we discussed the Koch brothers Americans for Prosperity collaboration with the Harrisonburg Republican Party on a partisan campaign to block needed progress in our schools. The committee desired to send out this FAQ (frequently asked questions) to the list to allow each of us to be more informed on the important issue affecting our high school. Please take a moment to review, and please reach out if you have questions or would like more information. This FAQ was compiled by Deb Fitzgerald

Deadline to Nominate: April 8th
At the March meeting, the committee voted to create a deadline and filing fee for anyone interested in pursuing the Democratic nomination for HarrisonburgCity Council.
Those interested MUST EMAIL hburgnews@gmail.com by midnight EST April 8th. There will be a $200 filing fee payable to the Harrisonburg DemocraticCommittee.
If more than two people declare, the committee also voted to hold an unassembled caucus on Saturday, June 2nd. Should this caucus become necessary, the committee shall appoint a Rules Committee and begin working on more details.
Those interested in seeking the Democratic nomination for Harrisonburg City Council are encouraged to contact the chair of the Nominating Committee, Dany Fleming, by emailing fleming.dany@gmail.com.
